Terms of use

Manchester Commerce is a member-funded chamber of commerce, incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in the State of Vermont, serving Manchester and the neighboring towns of Arlington, Dorset, Peru, Rupert, Sandgate, Sunderland and Winhall.

How we handle information about you is covered separately in our Privacy Notice, which forms part of these terms.

The member platform provides local economic data, a business directory, regulatory and town government monitoring, a resource library, and information about chamber events and programming. What is available changes as the chamber builds, and section 8 explains how we label that.

Accounts are intended for people who own or work in a business in the area we serve. We may decline or close an account at our discretion, though we will tell you why.

When you create an account, give us accurate information and keep it current, particularly your business details, since other members may rely on them. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials to yourself. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.

You can close your account and request deletion of your information at any time by emailing us. The details are in the Privacy Notice.

Most of this is what you would expect, but one part matters more than the rest.

Beyond that, please do not use the platform to break the law, to impersonate another person or business, to upload anything malicious, to interfere with how the service runs, or to gain access to parts of it you were not given. Do not misrepresent your business or your connection to it.

If you do any of this we may suspend or close your account, and where a member's conduct affects other members, we may tell them what happened.

Your business listing and anything else you submit stays yours. By submitting it you are giving us permission to display and distribute it as part of running the chamber, including in the directory, in chamber communications, and in materials that promote the local business community. That permission ends when you remove the content or close your account, except where we have already used it in something published.

Do not submit anything you do not have the right to submit, including logos, photographs or text belonging to someone else.

Having a platform account is not the same as being a member of the chamber, and neither of those is the same as holding a governance role. Membership, dues, voting and any rights attached to them are governed by the chamber's bylaws and by decisions of its board, not by these terms. Where the two ever appear to conflict, the bylaws govern.

If something on the platform is labeled as in development, coming soon, or pending board approval, it is not active yet. We label things this way deliberately rather than presenting an unfinished chamber as a finished one. A feature shown in one of those states is a statement of intent, not a commitment to a date.

We publish summaries and monitoring of town government, regulations, funding programs and similar material, including our regulatory watch, our briefs on town board activity, and our guides to capital and assistance programs. These are prepared in good faith and we work to keep them accurate.

They are not legal, financial, tax or professional advice, and you should not treat them as a substitute for it. Regulations change, program terms change, and summaries lose detail. Before you act on anything we publish, check the primary source, and talk to a professional where the stakes warrant it. If you find something we have got wrong, tell us and we will correct it.

We point members toward outside organizations, lenders, agencies and programs. Listing one is not an endorsement or a recommendation, and it is not a statement that you will qualify. We have no control over those organizations, their decisions, their terms or their websites, and we are not responsible for them. Your dealings with them are between you and them.

Registering for an event is not a guarantee of a place, since space can be limited. If you cannot attend after registering, let us know so the seat can go to someone else. We may change or cancel an event, and we will give as much notice as we can. We expect people at our events to behave civilly toward each other, and we may ask someone to leave if they do not.

We do not currently process payments of any kind through the platform. When dues and payment become available, the terms covering them will be published here before they take effect, and nothing will be charged to anyone who has not agreed to them.

We are actively building this, so features will change, and some will be withdrawn. Where a change materially affects how you use the platform, we will tell you.

The chamber's infrastructure may move between accounts and providers as the organization matures. Where that affects your account, we will tell you before it happens rather than afterwards.

We provide the website, the platform and our published material as they are. We do not promise that they will be uninterrupted, error free, or that the information in them is complete or current, though we try. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, including those of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

To the extent the law allows, Manchester Commerce, its directors, officers and volunteers are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from your use of the platform or reliance on what we publish, including lost profits or lost business. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Vermont, and any dispute arising from them belongs in the state or federal courts of Vermont.

The date at the top reflects the current version. If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will tell the people on our email list and platform members rather than relying on you to notice.

This replaces the interim terms of use dated 4 May 2026, which were written while the chamber was still in formation and described an invitation-only beta. The chamber is now incorporated, and these terms cover the website, events and published material as well as the platform.
